The Suncycling Odyssey, a project created by Fiona Colantuono, 22 years old and engineering student, aims to raise awareness around climate change. Fiona and her solar powered e-bike will cross 10 countries – France, England, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland – for 4 months. Fiona will follow the European Eurovélo routes, routes designed for bicycle travel by the European Union. The arrival of this 8,800 kilometers Tour of Europe is scheduled in Lyon (France) in July. You can find her complete itinerary here.
For this project to be a success, the eco-adventurer has set to meet actors of change and energy transition, initiators of local projects around the following themes: local and artisanal production, eco-mobility, eco-housing, eco-responsible sports, transition assistance, zero waste, local currencies, collaborative places… Fiona Colantuono also wishes to intervene in different schools, from primary to higher education, to organize the workshops of La Fresque du Climate. Equipped with a tent, she will also sleep in people’s homes, as she meets them on her journey.
Active Giving is thrilled to support Fiona and The Suncycling Odyssey. Nearly 9,000 kilometers and 50,000 meters of positive altitude difference for 10 countries crossed on a solar bike, this will enable to collect a lot of trees. For this reason we have created a The Suncycling Odyssey Team on Active Giving that will support our tree planting partner Eden Reforestation Project
